Dear ISAC Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the premature passing of one of our beloved faculty members, Professor Chris Peers on May 20th, 2018.

Professor Peers served as ISAC President 2011-2014, was one of the first Fernando De Castro awardees and the mentor of a new generation of relevant scientists in the oxygen field.

He was a world-renowned physiologist/neuroscientist working at the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Leeds.

He had been involved in the study of the carotid body and cardiovascular pharmacology since the early 1990s and recently also interested in neurodegenerative diseases acting as coordinator of the Yorkshire branch of the Alzheimer’s Research UK National network.

ISAC lost an amazing scientist. We will miss him and will remember him as a very good friend and nice colleague.
