After the success of the ISAC XXI kickoff meeting held remotely last June 28, and
the progressive return to in person interactions it is our great pleasure and honor to invite you to join the ISAC XXI Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, rescheduled to June 27-30, 2022.
Portugal hosted in 1985 the last “chemoreceptor gathering” that inspired the formal creation of the International Society of Arterial Chemoreceptors in 1987. We have the privilege of having Professor Alexandre Ribeiro, the organizer of the 1985 meeting at Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência in Oeiras, to open the ISAC XXI
Since ISAC was first established, there have been many advances in the field of arterial O2, CO2 and pH sensing, its role in severe acute respiratory syndromes but also in the non-canonical roles of the carotid body as its role as metabolic sensor. Therefore, the ISAC XXI meeting promises to offer exciting insights into the most recent research findings in all aspects of arterial chemoreception as well as in its relationship with pathology.
Lisbon is the coastal capital city of Portugal, being one of the most charismatic and vibrant cities of Europe. Is the second-oldest capital in Europe’s with World Heritage monuments and singular museum treasures but also with a striking modernism from international design and contemporary art. Lisbon has a vivid, young and experimental spirit and offers a rich and varied history in glorious yearround climate and that has attracted a lot of foreign people.
The ISAC XXI Meeting will take place at the NOVA Medical School in Lisbon, located in the city center, between the two most iconic avenues, and easily accessible by public transport. All the sessions will be in hybrid format. Oral presentations are limited to attendees in person, but poster sessions will be remotely.
We look forward to welcoming you to Lisbon where you will have the opportunity to enjoy an exciting scientific conference in a rich cultural and historical setting.
